Massachusetts Economic Development
In addition to BAC’s focus in financial services, Boston Asia Capital (BAC) is keenly focused on making strategic and financially sound investments in “gateway” communities in Massachusetts. We have created an investment fund (Massachusetts Economic Development Fund – MEDF) that is seeking to invest in profitable economic development projects that create jobs. We recently signed an agreement with the City of Holyoke to be our flagship gateway community. One of our key objectives is to target investments in “green” jobs that provide needed renewable energy, low carbon fuel and healthy food products as well as economic, and consumer or business friendly approaches to providing basic services in health, communications, data storage and product support.
BAC's “Green, Friendly & Healthy” projects will include:
HEALTHIER FOOD
“Bio-Farm” Organic Wholesome Fresh Food:
BAC will develop of a set of year round indoor “green food factories” that will use the latest advances in hydroponic production, organic growing techniques, sanitation and climate control to deliver the highest quality produce that is picked fresh and delivered daily to local stores & restaurants. A second phase will include expansion into aquaculture and delivery of super-fresh fish including tilapia, carp, trout and snapper.
CLEANER POWER
Renewable Electric Power:
BAC has teamed up with Holyoke Gas and Electric and is planning alliances with other municipal utilities to build renewable electric power projects through the best use of private and public capital and various renewable energy incentives. BAC will invest in companies and technologiles to deliver solar power to businesses, industries or the grid by deploying large solar electric projects including flat plate solar collectors and thin film collection. Other potential renewable energy projects include rehabilitation of existing hydro systems at industrial sites on Northeast rivers or other low impact, high output renewable approaches. New technology innovations also include use of very efficient fuel cells at landfill sites to convert landfill gas to renewable electricity.
BETTER BUSINESS SUPPORT
Multi Lingual Call Centers:
BAC has a complete program for “on-shoring” call centers from overseas back to the USA and providing higher quality call center services that are both bi-lingual and based on real English based speakers sensitive to US customer needs. The centers will use the latest technology in telecommunications to insure high language specific communication quality while training programs will be developed to allow for a strong local base of employment that will provide thousands of jobs in each call center location.
Data Centers:
BAC is working with various partners to develop high speed, highly secure data centers that will store a variety of data files for major corporations including health records for hospitals, archives of films for studios and government data archives. These data centers will provide lower cost data storage that will allow for encrypted access to patient data, long term storage of documents, data, video or film for various customers and other storage.capacity.
CLEANER MORE EFFICIENT ENERGY
Low Carbon More Efficient Fuels:
One of the most important sources of carbon emissions and air pollution is the burning of petroleum fuels, which we are increasingly dependent upon as global economic growth puts increasing strains on global oil reserves. The drilling in arctic and deep sea sites also comes at a huge risk of environmental catastrophe that the BP Gulf Spill all too clearly shows. BAC plans several economic development efforts aimed initially at improving vehicle efficient through fuel and lubricant additives and fuel treatment. This includes anti-friction and fuel additive combinations that can provide up to 10% efficiency improvements at a nominal cost and fuel treatment devices for both transport and heating systems that can achieve even higher fuel savings. Sustainable Renewable Fuels!
BETTER COMMUNITIES
Green Community Development:
An important benefit of the economic development program is that it also opens up opportunities for revitalizing the community through investments in buildings, infrastructure and support systems for communities. BAC is working closely with local, state and federal agencies to define infrastructure requirements for projects that will lead to large public project capital investments in conjunction with project start up. This will lead to hundreds of construction jobs & leveraging of Federal stimulus funds. BAC also works with the best green development architects and engineers to develop plans for mixed use development that combine industrial, commercial, retail and residential spaces with urban green zones and key social, cultural and outdoor activities. This includes room for alternative transport (bike lanes, bus lanes, handicap access, mixed age and racial mix in communities and various other innovations. BAC specializes in converting old industrial areas with boarded up abandoned buildings into vibrant communities with healthy design and lots of green space.
